We have a 1930s house with a beautiful arched brick entranceway. This has been filled with a UPVC door that due to the height of the arch is too low for us to replace the carpets or use a doormat.

Can anyone recommend suppliers of arched doors (and frames). I'm thinking this would look much better and could be set higher allowing more floor clearance.

Unfortunately were on a tight budget, so this may be a long term thing. But at least want to know what kind of price I'd be looking at!.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
Most uPVC door suppliers will have the resource to obtain arch-top frames, but they are not cheap!! The standard practice is a template of ply is made of the arch which the manufacturer (not the sales co) then sends to the specialist bender who forms that particular section of frame to the correct shape. It is then returned to the manufacturer who incorporates it into a frame.
A better option, given the character of your property may be a local joinery firm who could make exactly what you want from a less expensive hardwood such as idigbo or iroko. I am a uPVC fitter and I hate the look of it in character properties, but its sooo practical. good luck ;) Kev
