I’ve made a dogs dinner out of this. I know but let me explain.

I’ve successfully fitted a few architrave now. Including two next to the wall that needed to be trimmed down the length.

With this, I measured at the bottom, middle and top. I cut the architrave based on these measurements. This is how it turned out. Can you help please.

Thanks in advance.

The wall is probably not flat.
Technically, you could scribe it but most would rely on filler.

most would rely on filler.
It has gaps of over 10mm in places. What kind of filler would you use for that?

I’ve seen some videos of scribing but I think this may be more complicated as some width of the architrave needs to go anyhow, in order to sit at the clearance line.

I’m happy to start again, if there is a more practical approach to this.

Start again and scribe it to the wall.
Temporarily fix the architrave to the frame in a vertical position which just touches the wall in one place.
Measure the amount that you need to remove to get the edge of the architrave to sit in the correct position relative to the edge of the frame.
Mark a line this distance from the wall all the way up the architrave using a suitably sized offcut of wood as a spacer between your pencil and the wall.
Cut along this (wiggly) line on the architrave. You will end up with a perfect fit against the wall.

At the point that it is touching the wall when in vertical position?

When its fixed in a vertical position touching the wall in one place I would expect it to be overlapping the frame by the same amount all the way up the frame (looking at the back of the architrave). You need to remove this amount plus 6mm if you are having the edge of the architrave 6mm from the edge of the frame.

I suppose, I could do a test with the current piece. I appreciate that it will be too narrow but might be worth doing, to get some experience.
