ARE DAMP PROOF GUARENTEES WORTH THEIR WHILE?

i know many companys offer a 25 year guarentee with a damp proofing product, but is it a load of rubbish, or are they worth it?

They are usually only worth it if they are backed by the Property Guarantee Administration (PGA) or the Guarantee Protection Trust (GPT). Otherwise they become worthless if the damp-proofing company goes bust.

Some guarantees only apply to the materials, ie the silicone. So that means you will receive a few drums of silicone but you will have to pay for the labour to install the system
There are a few reputable companies who guarantee everything ,in the event of failure. This means that labour costs, replastering and redecoration, in addition to reinjection are covered in the event of failure.
Ask to see a speciman copy of the guarantee before you agree to any work.
