I'm struggling to find a well priced petrol one at the moment so considering trying something like an Evolution Hulk. They're only half the whacking force of a, say, a VP1135 (5KN versus 10KN)

Will they be able to compact hardcore for a ground slab, but just take twice as long?

Thanks

I'd say save your money, Gary - these are ok for sand (just) but anything else then no. Even the smaller petrol machines leave much to be desired so if you are sorting hardcore then go big.

If you can stretch to it, the Belle 13/40 with a Honda engine is a good machine......centrifugal clutch, too which saves chasing the bloody thing all over the place
