Are External Cills Required On Conservatory?

We are getting a conservatory built & we like the idea of pushing the windows out as far as possible on top of the wall * not having a cill out the external side of the window.

Is this possible or are the cills a requirement?

Cills stop the walls getting soaked - and the inside too

You can do more or less what you want on a conservatory, but you will cause problems in not having a projecting cill.
If it was OK to do it like that, then ask yourself why all windows you see have projecting cills.

You can fit them flush if, whoever designs it, designs a way for water not to get under the frame

Personally I would go for the cills.

I assume that you are using plastic windows and having a window board on the inside. If so you could dress lead under the frame, turned up inside behind the window board and dressed over the brickwork on the outside. Of course, if you used timber windows you could groove the underside to take the lead. But, in saying that, a proper cill on the outside is by far the best and I really cannot understand what you have against it.

You want to push the windows out as far as possible, pvc windows are waterproof, by pushing them out you will go beyond the vertical dpc then exposing wet bricks on the inside of the conservatory, I always bridge the vertical dpc with the frames, it makes for a better job at the end of the day, it gives you a dry brick to plaster to internally and easy enough to run some silicon round the outside.

However if you want damp problems in the future, you may feel bored and want a project then go for it.
