Are renderers supposed to place a sealant on the joint between houses?

The renderers I used were insistent that the builder steel beaded and sealed the ( in my case) corner between the rendered side wall and front brick wall to prevent damp and moisture ingress. They left it to the builder though so it might have been a “demarcation” practice.
