Just visited our daughter in her new (to her) house. I noticed a couple of the double glazed units had the inner trim bowing in. I’m assuming it’s a replacement unit that will be needed and it can’t be repaired. Is that right?

I may be very wrong, but does it look
as if the wrong sized sealed units were fitted to start with? - you wouldn't normally see the sides of the spacer bar, when looking at the window.
Does the sealed unit look the same all the way around, or does the other side disappear behind the beading?

It's my understanding that when the spacer bar bows inward it's because the desiccant had been packed too tightly during manufacture, whether that's true or not I don't know, maybe Ronnie can answer but in any case it's going to need a new unit

It could well be too much dessicant in the spacer bar. No one has actually proved either way whether this is true or not, i believe it was more prevalent in certain types of dessicant more than others.
As Crank says , a new unit is the only way to solve this I'm afraid
