Generally Ariston are fairly reliable although they are at the cheaper end of the quality range. As they get older they tend to develop some small faults which many engineers dont seem to be able to manage well.

The circuit boards on them sometimes fail after a few years but as yours has been reliable then you were probably blessed with a good one. The failure is often plated through holes under the pump relay.

It will probably be no more than about £200 to fix it and possibly less than £100 and thats a fraction of the cost of a replacement at about £1500. There will be little inprovement in gas saving from a condensing boiler.

So unless you have more money than sense my suggestion is that you should have it repaired now but consider a new boiler the next time it fails in perhaps a couple of years.

I wonder if you have had it serviced regularly ( or ever )?
