Cannot find any reason for rads heating up on return line during hot water call, Would fitting a non-return valve to return line be an acceptable solution.

Any advice would be appreciated,

It's normal to put nrv's in line when say 2 boilers are in parallel, but use an oversize one - ie for 28mm/1". I'd speak to Ariston first, I'd bet there's some route inside the boiler which is being taken. Have seen it before.
