Hi,

My dad thought this may be artex, painter and decorator has said textured wall paper.

I want to remove it, but if it is artex I'm obviously concerned about asbestos. Any thoughts?

Paper
You can see a seam. Press it with your fingernail- paper will dent, artex won't

Thanks for the response!
I've started stripping it and seems there are two further layers of lining paper. So it's a pin, but it's coming off slowly.

Only issue is the walls are lined too, so it's difficult not to pull of the top of the wall, see picture!

If I continue like this, can I use filler to make a smooth join? Or have I screwed myself into a bigger job!?

I would run along the ceiling/wall join with a Stanley knife to stop the issue
You can probably fill and sand to hide damage but better to prevent it
Presumably you are using steam
