Artex or Textured Paint

Hi all
I've started removing this from the ceiling but someone told me that it could contain asbestos! I thought it was just some sort of textured paint, but seems it might be Artex. Could it be the more modern Polytex (so hopefully wouldn't contain asbestos) or is it likely to be Artex? Or is it just textured paint as I thought.

I'm using a sharp scraper to remove it and as you can see in the photos it does just scrape away but breaks into small peices as i'ts pretty thin. Be grateful for any help.

As Nige says it looks like textured paint with it being that thin. the ceiling looks to possibly have distemper on it. A coat of Zinsser Gardz will seal it prior to any other work.

Thanks for the replies. To be on the safe side we sent some samples of for testing and looks like we were all right good news is no asbestos found
