Just a quick check pls. Installing a light outside my front door. Been a bit too aggressive and some plaster came off the ceiling. From the upstairs room everything looks like standard lath and plaster. I see some horsehair, but wondering about these white lines…

You can put a match to is as asbestos glows and don't burn.
Is that soft?
It's unusual. Looks a bit like fibre board but I don't know without poking it.
Probably worth getting a test done before you proceed as cheap enough. Play it safe

I have repaired one like that.
I cut ply and screwed over the top through and put a wooden molding around the edges.
Probably just lath and plaster ceiling then. Can't say if it contains asbestos. Pulled loads off ceilings down over the years though
