Asbestosis

I was listening to the news earlier and they were discussing todays law lords decision regarding asbestosis victims.

The ruling was was that if the victims had worked at more than one (asbestos related)company, the insurance companies wouldn't have to pay as much compensation.

The cynic in me makes me wonder if these guys are "names". ;)

my brother died in december 2004 from this disease..he had worked on the docks for more than twenty years lugging sacks filled with asbestos dust. and was confirmed by the coroner that this was the cause of his death.he left the the docks 15 years ago because of ill health, and now the family as been told that the firm he used to work for went out of business 7 years ago.and will have to be decided by the government.and there is a lot of cases coming to light with ex-dockers in the Hull area according to the local paper.

It's absolutely disgusting that no one wants to pay these poor people.

Vokera80e I am sorry for your loss and I know that the your brothers family should get compensation, but how sickening that nothing was done financially for him when he was alive.

The govt. in this country stinks  - they are quick enough to pay up when prisoners are suddenly released 'on a technicality' (which usually means that the police bodged the evidence and rushed the case through without making sure that it was watertight) but for anyone suffering through no fault of their own and they shut their eyes and hope they or their problem will go away
