I recently joined this forum as I came on comments about the CO2 heat pump that are clearly mis leading.
The only thing the Sanyo CO2 heat pump can do is reach 65C. However through out the range of ambient temperatures from -5C to 15C COP's will never exceed 3 and the latter is at an ambient of 15C with a flow temperature out at 61C and in at 31.1C (not practical only in test conditions)
Under normal temperatures in the UK you can expect COP's around the 2 mark.
But even at -5C with flow temperatures of 65C the COP will drop to 1.6.
A properly designed HFC heat pump system with a flow temperature of 35C will give higher COP's at 7C ambient than the CO2 (over 4 with HFC with the CO2 not exceeding COP of 3.7. With low temperatures all the main manufacturers are starting to use EVI HFC compressors that can deliver temperatures of 65C at low ambient temperatures (7C and lower) and still obtain COP's higher than CO2.
Any one who has got natural gas should stay on gas.
Wood is the best alternative to gas but again the wood burner should be a gasification system as used in Russia, Germany or Austria.
