asphalt floor lumps

Hi everyone,
This is a follow on from my previous post , I've now taken a lump out of my asphalt floor and the concrete slab below is undamaged. But it does smell damp. The asphalt doesn't seem to be stuck to the concrete at al. The asphalt is about 40mm thick. I reckon I would be able to lift all the asphalt off without damaging the slab. It comes up very easily.Would I then be ok putting a liquid dpm down and self levelling to 40mm over it once it is completely dry. Any suggestions.

This has happened in a house were I was working. You will need to dig up the old concrete and replace with a sheet dpm and new concrete.
Or gamble with new Ashpalt mate.
Chances are a surface dpm won't hold the rising damp back.

I've spoken to a company called SIKA who deal with tanking basements and liquid membranes . They have told me that I need to take hygrometer readings, to see if the concrete is within the tollerances for moisture in concrete. This Will define what my next steps are. I Will keep everyone posted because it is quite common apparently. Thanks to all the replies I've had whilst posting this subject.
