Note: aspirin is not used to prevent DVT. (Aspirin is widely used to help prevent blood clots in arteries which can cause strokes and heart attacks. However, aspirin does not seem to be very effective at preventing clots in veins.)
Everyone aged over 45 should consider a small daily dose of aspirin to help protect themselves against heart disease and cancer, a panel of experts suggested yesterday.

If this is the case, though, why are the NHS not recommending that all the 45+s take aspirin daily? I note the comments pertaining to certain individual's reactions re stomach ulcers etc, but the treatment of bowel cancer and others cost the country annually many millions.
