Attic roof partly lined with polythene

Hi all

Looking for some advice on my attic, in home recently purchased. Attic has been floored and plasterboarded by previous owner - with flooring across whole attic right out towards eaves.

The entire roof appears to have also been insulated during this job. Most of this insulation is held between plasterboard and roof.

However one thing Ive noticed is that around the eaves, there is a stapled black sheet (polythene I think) holding insulation in place. I've attached pictures of this.

I'm not 100% how breathable this sheet is, and have concerns about whether it could cause any condensation or contribute towards potential damage? I was going to cut this sheet open to inspect, but of course once I do that there's no going back.

I'm aware that the roof / wood needs to breathe, so was hoping for opinions as to whether this looks like a job well done? Or whether this doesn't look like an advisable thing to keep in place?

Any advice or thoughts is really appreciated, I've attached some photos. Thanks

Not necessarily an issue. All depends where the insulation is situated and how the insulation is fitted.
