Automatic Air Vents, PCB and Thermocouple

Hi guys (and gals)!

Just a couple of quick q's:

An Automatic Air Vent must be placed at the highest point of the system (eg like a manual air vent-on the primary flow to the HW Cylinder) - is this true or can it be placed somewhere else in the system?

Also does every boiler have a PCB and a Thermocouple or is it just combis that have them?

Sorry if I sound a bit stupid!!!!!!!!
