Hi, new to this site and saw some of you guys have the same so I'm hoping you can help.
This boiler is nearly 40yrs old now and still works perfectly I service it twice a year and get excellent return with oil consumption, on the last service I noticed the ball bearing at the bottom of the motor is starting to wear and am concerned the rotor will start catching on the motor houseing. Is it possible to replace this bearing or does anyone have a new or recon'd part ???

Thanks & look forward to your reply.

Any bearing factor will be able to sort you out with this - take the old bearing with you, he'll measure the outside and inner diameters, the thickness and give you the choice of a sealed or greasable bearing.
John :)

The bearing is a single ball. I've not seen one available in any stockists recently, but try a good old fashioned bike shop that still sells ball bearings for wheel cones and botton brackets. Take the old one with you, and also the cup and you should be able to match it up.

If the bearing has worn, You will probably find that the thrust plate is also worn.
Can be reversed if not previously done.

Pardon my ignorance please  No experience with this burner.
Is this bearing the single spherical type that locates into a dished seating?
John :)

If its a single ball and you can accurately measure it then you should be able to buy it art atlasball.co.uk

They specialise in balls !

But if the ball is worn then the socket is also likely to be worn.

It may be preloaded with shim washers which could/should be adjusted to take up wear.

Do you live in a museum?

Tony
