[b]URGENT - noise driving me MAD - please HELP[/b]

Whenever we run hot water (shower, tap, washing machine) there is an awful constant droning noise - this continues for about 10 mins after we've finished running the water.

When this first started happening it would stop when we ran a cold tap but that no longer works.

About 6 months ago we 'fixed' it by turning down the stop-cock but that doesn't work now.

Please help

(or else suggest a reputable plumber in the Durham area)

don't know much about plumbing but if any of the following helps......

We have a boiler downstairs in the kitchen and a tank up stairs in the airing cupboard.

The house is about 8 years old.

ball valve upstairs probably
check it or replace it

loose washer/ jumper in ball valve in your cistern, easiest is to just change the complete ball valve.

i assume all you cold water is mains as running cold taps in bathroom would cause this also
