Babe Watch (Pammy)

W build the housings for this type of farming.
It's big business here in NI due to current demand and highly profitable.
(The farming that is not the construction)

And due to increasing demand the chickens welfare is being more and more sidelined!

Two houses holding about 10,000 birds will earn you about £80k per year clear profit after the debts of £0.5 million are paid off.
Each day one person will have about 2 hours work tops.
And two big wash outs per year which takes about a week and 3 or 4 personell needed.

Peoples greed (need?) for cheap food goes hand in hand with the greed of the factory farmer.

Debeaking is akin to removing our hands. Chickens use their beaks to explore their world, pick up things and of course eat and drink.

When you see how bloodied and bruised the wings on a supermarket chicken are you can bet they are treated in a similar way.

I wish I had the resolve to stop eating meat but I haven't.

I'm pleased to say that, being a nearly-vegetarian, I don't eat chicken.

But that's not enough; most people do, and these practices should be made public by the media, not just YouTube.

Anyway, I thought such things were illegal here and in most civilised countries (except for halal and kosher, of course).
