Bad egg smell when washer spins

This morning my Kenmore Elite top loader stopped working when going to the rinse cycle.

I have emptied the clothes (12 hours later when I got home from work) & tried spinning. It works - but I get a sulphur smell. Is this because the
water sat all day - or does this indicate a worse problem?

I am now going to empty the washer by hand as I don't want to make a situation worse.

Partial blockage somewhere in the waste.

Does the drain hose connect to a sink trap perhance?
