Bad Service?

Wish I had thought of doing this when I walked out of a restaurant recently.

There is a simple solution to the lack of service and that is to phone the restaurant and order over the telephone.

Its a common problem on Fridays and Saturdays when the Indian restaurants are concentrating on their takeaways instead of their seated customers. they take the order and it takes up to two hours to arrive.

An Indian lady friend invited some of us out for a meal for her birthday. The starters came quickly and then there was a very long wait. It was explained later that as it was Ramadan the boss had to give his staff an hour off so they could eat their own food!

Michael Winner is not exempt either! He was saying recently on a TV program about waiters that they use every trick in the book NOT to come and take orders or bring food quickly.

They should have got up and walked out or simply complained to the restaurant manager.

If they were the kind of people who were ill-mannered enough to squirt ketchup on the table I expect the waiters didn't want to serve them or were afraid of approaching them. Would you expect waiter service anyway in a restaurant where you sit at a wall bar? Maybe they were supposed to go to the counter to order.

Yeah, right

These people must have been really angry, they underlined their statement in mustard :D :D

I went to a Xmas bash a good few years ago and they had put paper tablecloths down and supplied crayons for use on the same. Well what a recipe for a disaster that was.

The food was carp and only marginally beaten into second place by the service, no wonder they always want money up front in these places.

People were drawing pictures of dog turd$ and adding comments such as "my dinner" A picture of a snail with a waiters badge on and the guys name written on it. And so it went on........

Speaking as a former waiter, a "Winner" is the industry standard term for defiling a rude customer's din-din.

You shouldn't let that put you off complaining though, in my experience you have to be a special breed of a**ehole to be served a Winner's Dinner. If there is a genuine complaint and you treat the staff cordially, you have nothing to fear.

But if you intend to boost your ego by a) showing up or belittling the staff or b) vocally insulting the chef's abilities then you should probably just leave!

Obviously poor service shouldn't be expected when you are paying a premium in order to have your dinner cooked expertly and brought to you in tip-top condition in pleasant surroundings by polite staff.

I suspect Mr Winner has consumed condiments he did not order over the years...
