Badly Corroded Unvented Tank

Hi we have an unvented hot water tank in our loft which was in when we bought the house 3.5 years ago.I was in the loft earlier today & noticed that there has been a leak at some point from what looks like the pipe that goes into the top of the tank & the top of the tank is very heavily rusted & corroded as per the images.
I have home emergency coming out but they cant come till Thursday , now I have seen it I am worried this is safe till then...
Also is this something that can be repaired or is a replacement tank the likely outcome...

That's only the outer casing to cover the insulation and keep it in place, so in itself it shouldn't cause any problems. The internal cylinder containing the water is generally made from stainless steel.

If there's a label on it with manufacturer / model details, you should be able to find details of its construction on line.
