I've an outdoor tap that been leaking for weeks but now is really bad a couple of drops per second. I've tightened everything i believe possible but not difference...is there anything else i can do ?
turn off the isolator inside. then follow the tap handle downwards until you get to the biggest nut- undo this and pull up. will reveal a knackered tap washer...replace and reassemble.
Turn off the water.
Turn the whole tap anti-clockwise.
It'll wind all out.
Get a new tap.
Wrap PTFE tape around spindle of new tap.
Insert new tap.
Turn water back on.
No need to change the tap, just change the washer. This video will show you how. Although it's a different type of tap, the principle is the same. Turn off water, remove tap head, install new washer, re-assemble.
