Hi
I'm building an entertainment centre in my living room that will blend into the fireplace. I'm putting together wooden stud work at the moment and I'd like some advice re. the areas near the fireplace.
The fire I'm most likely to go for is the Dru scenic (http://www.drufire.co.uk/product_range/dru_designer_built-in_gas_fires/dru_scenic_70_3_sided_balanced_flue_gas_fire.aspx) which is of balanced flue design. My main questions are:
1) can I use wooden stud work in the chimney breast?
2) the sides of the chimney breast wont get that hot, but the underside near the fire will be quite exposed so what's a good material for this? I expect supalux with a heat resistant skim no?
I'm aware I'll need ventilation for the chimney breast which is fine. Obv I'll be getting a gas safe installer to commission it but I want to do 90% of the work myself before they arrive. There are some related threads on the forum but they're years old and they don't address these specific questions.
