Does anyone know how I can waterproof a balcony floor. I have a room underneath and wanted to use timber or tiles on the balcony above.

One method is to use lead sheeting on top of the joists and then perhaps timber or tiles on top of that. The lead can be embedded in the wall mortar at one end to create a waterproof roof for the room below. Might be expensive though. I would be interested to hear any other ideas people may have.
