Ballpark price for a carpet or laminate fitting

Can someone give me a ballpark figure on a price for fittings a carpet or laminate (2 prices prob I know), for a living room of approx 5M x 4M please.

We came back from holiday, had a minor leak and the laminate (very cheapo fitted years ago), has lifted.

We are selling the house so although it hasn't sold yet I don't want to spend too much. I take it you have to clear the whole floor for them as well (the hard part!!).
I'm in UK, I physically can't do it now, and my Dad is too old now. I think it would be done in a day?

Cheapest quotes will be for a clear room as you say this includes removing existing "old" flooring. Fitters understand that you may need to leave the setee in the room.

prices vary wildly from area to area but.....
in North West...........
carpet - expect to pay approx. £2.50m2 with a minimum charge of at least £30 - £40 your room is 20m2 so around £50

laminate is £8 -£15m2 usually £80 min charge but your room is approx. £160

Be aware foreigners can cost more!!!!!!!!!!!!
