What's a ballpark figure for a standard 5kW woodburner, hearth and about 7m of twinwall flue with four bends?

Just working out if it's something remotely worth considering before I even think about potentially wasting people's time getting quotes!

Simple install, straight through a wall and up the side of the building, no access issues.

Cheers!

Wow, that's a lot more than I was thinking!

As I understand, you can do up to four bends. I think I need one to go from the stove through the wall, another to go straight up, one to go around the bargeboard, then another to go up again

You are correct in saying 4 bends . 1 bend is really a pair of them as you need 2 in series to get back upright again which gives an offset to get around obstacles

I got quoted £2,880 for a basic logburner installation in 2020. I had some additional work done including a new GRP roof on an "external" fireplace and a new lintel that bumped up the price a bit

I also went for a 9kw Stovax and that cost me £1,600

Installers have been taking advantage if the high demand for stoves since the rocketing energy prices and upped the price installation . If you have to buy wood you may not save what you may be hoping for ...unless you want a stove for aesthetic reasons.

As above regarding fuel costs. Yes a real fire is a lovely thing but (if you have a biggish one to heat the whole house) you'll spend a significant amount of time stoking and cleaning out (my 13kw Villager with back boiler will go through a bail crate of wood in about 20 minutes running flat-out, if you are buying firewood the cost/kWh is significantly higher than current gas price.

I'm looking at a 5kW wood only stove in my living room, just to supplement my pretty decent gas central heating and keep the living room (and bedroom above) a few degrees above the rest of the house in the evenings.

I'm quite good at getting freebie wood, asides from the offcuts from my carpentry projects and DIY building work, I keep my eye open for broken pallets, and have a couple of clients who are only too happy to have me empty their wood skips of a few bags every now and then!

Pretty sure you can install under a building notice if you can DIY it?

Just had one installed in bungalow, £2750, flue straight up thru roof. Max quote was £5k but that included a faux fireplace which Mrs decided was not needed.Clacton, Essex. All the different stove we looked at were all in the region of £1k.
