I want to replace the carpet on the floor of my living room & kitchen with a 'wood/effect hard floor' alternative. The house is approx ten years old and has chipboard/floating floors.
I have looked at the miriad of alternatives (laminate, real wood, karndean etc.) and I'am no wiser as the source of the best material at the most reasonable cost (don't plan on living in this house for ever!).
I have limited experience of laminate but thought what I have seen installed seemed quite plasticy underfoot (maybe cheapo stuff...I don't know).
Do want to use the same material in both rooms so need to consider resistance to water etc.
Really do like the effect on page 4 of the new wickes kitchen brochure.
what are your thoughts?
much appreciated
