Banging pipes and flame out

I have a Glow worm Fuelsaver MK2 40B boiler, which has now started with the following problems.

(1) The pipes out of the boiler are banging, and I mean banging.
(2) If I turn the gas boiler heat up past halfway, then the banging cause the flame to go out.

Is it on it's way out?

More likely a lack of flow.

Full of water?

Pump running properly and not blocked impeller?

Thanks for the info Tony, I will check it out again. The pump was new about 14 months ago, but you never know. Just about to check the header tank when your reply arrived, will let you know how I get on.
