banging pipes - worcester junior

The pipes bang very loudly always seems to come from inside 3metres from the Boiler. The pressure seems ok. The banging isn't related to using the water and can start if the heating is on or off ! sometimes don't hear anything for hours, then bang bang bang .... up to 5 mins. tried bleeding but makes no difference. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

It's probably "water hammer" on the mains pipe. Do a search, but 1st thing to try is minor adjustment of the mains stop cock.
