Hi all

We moved into our new build house a couple of years ago, and we've noticed that the water that comes out the hot tap in the bath is not as hot as any other tap in the house, even the small sink in the bathroom, right next to the bath.

The house came with a regular combi boiler, but also has solar hot water. When we first moved in, we actually had no hot water what so ever, and so had to get a plumber out from the builders, who simply opened a tap on top of the hot water tank. This tap just mixes cold into the hot, so that the hot water CANNOT scald, but this was set to not allow any hot into the mix of water, meaning we just had cold.

We are just wondering if anyone knew of any reason that the hot water that comes out of the tap in the bath would be noticeably cooler than the water that comes out of the sink immediately next to the bath.

Some new builds have thermostatic mixing valves installed which premix the hot and cold to a set temperature before coming out of the hot tap. It may well be under the bath. It can be easily adjusted if this is the case which it sounds like it may well be.
