Bath tap connector help.

Can anybody help. We had abit of a leak from a plastic to copper fitting on one of our bath taps , I decided to remove and fit a brass compression style 3/4” connector , when fitting whilst it was in situ I couldn't get the connector to fit onto the tap thread , I decided to remove the tap completely and noticed the internal bore of the thread is actually hexagonal so a tap connector will not slot on so won’t seal on the o ring the thread fits but that’s all that does , see pics . I don’t really want to use another plastic speed fit style fitting so am considering replacing the tap if I cannot get a compression type which is a shame , can anybody advise if there is such a brass fitting that will fit this tap ?

You could fit 3/4 tap tail extensions ,the supply pipes would need shortening .

Yeah i did think about using them , i was just abit concerned about long term durability of them , i do realise a rubber ring on the brass connector will also have a life span . Them hoses are only 2 quid odd from screwfix which doesnt give em much confidence on quality .any suggestions on a good reliable brand on them ?

I think you have the wrong idea, reading between the lines I believe the tap tail extensions mentioned are these, they'll need a bit of tape/cord/thread to seal

I thought you were talking about the flexi stainless braided hoses .

Will the brass fitting shown in my first pic seal onto the male thread of that fitting ?

It should, if they are standard tap connectors with fibre washers. That being said there are so many different fittings these days and many seem to have different ID/OD's, standard sizes seem to have gone out the window, so I have come across ones that don't.

Its probably to unscrew the tap tail from the body of the tap.

Yes the fitting unscrews from the tap body . I yhought about turning it around but the end that screws into the tap is slightly thinner and has a o ring fitted , god only knows why the tap doesnt have a normal fitting on it .

Nope can't be turned around and be careful, if there an o-ring in there it should really have a little silicone grease applied to it before its tightened back up, once it's been taken out, just to make sure it seats properly again and doesn't leak.
