Bath tub overflow

Hi guys I am renovating my bathroom. The waste outlet kit for my bath tub comes with one rubber seal for the overflow. Does the seal go on the inside or the outside of the bath tub? Thanks for your time.

On the outside of the bath, also add a bit of LSX on both sides.
