Bathroom Cabinet - Mirror attacked by chemicals?

Five years ago we refurbished two bathrooms to high specification and fitted two Swiss Schneider Graceline cabinets. These are not cheap at well over a grand each. Since installing these, we have experienced a high level of mirror door edge deterioration. One cabinet is now on its third set of doors. The manufacturer cites aggressive chemical use as reason for the mirror failure. The doors have mirrors on both sides and appear to be two mirrors bonded back to back. No chemicals have been used to clean these doors and while I have been convinced all along that this is a manufacturing issue, I am now starting to look at the environment. One cabinet has been used to store toilet cleaner and while the lid is always tight, I am starting to wonder if any vapour from the hydrochloric acid in the toilet cleaner could be the cause. Our bathroom retailer is happy to sell us another brand of cabinets but as many use the same door manufacturer, we could end up in the same boat after spending another couple of grand.

Has anyone experienced this or has any view as to the likely causes?

Many thanks
