Hi guys, we're shortly having our bathroom extended by 3ft on one side, the extension will be taken care of by our builder but once that is complete we will be removing the current electric shower and installing a new combi shower on the adjacent wall, the shower will be moving approx 4ft.

My plan is to remove the entire electrical feed from the consumer unit to the bathroom (chalet bungalow so easily done) and to t into and extend the current hot tap feed to the new shower along with extending the current cold feed to the electric shower and current drain pipe.

Would the above work require notifying local building control, I suspect the plumbing alterations wouldn't but the electrical bit will?

Thanks
Chris.

Will there be no electric work in the new bathroom? shaver socket, lights, fan etc?

The extension itself is notifiable, so all the related work is covered.

But that work to the shower supply cable and plumbing, is not on its own controlled work, so not notifiable.

There will be no extra electrical work with the exception of swapping the current light for a different one

Thanks
Chris

Not all electric work on a bathroom is notifiable. There are zones close to baths/basins/showers, and outside these zones electric work is not notifiable.

The extension will be moving the internal wall of the bathroom further into to the downstairs bedroom not externally to the house, will that require planning permission?
