Bathroom Extractor Exit

I am fitting an in-line bathroom extractor unit, which runs out of the downstairs bathroom, along the joists, into the single story kitchen ceiling cavity. I want to exit the extractor through the kitchen roof - what is the best sort of exit pipe system to fit? Are there any regulations with window openings etc as there are with boiler flue exits?
