bathroom extractor fan advice

Hi,

We're just about to have a new bathroom installed, someone else is doing the install (I'm not good with DIY!) but we're providing the parts. I'm after a humitity controlled extractor fan.

And as a result was lead to look at these two fans :-

Is there anything I need to know about these? I think it will be wall mounted (we basically have a hole in the wall with a vent cover thing that slides over it at the moment) but what do I need to buy apart from the fan & the humitity module so he can install it?

edit - the bathroom is 1.7x2.1x2.4m and it's a bathroom with shower.

I would avoid the humidity fan and go for a timed fan, you want the fan running whenever the room is occupied to avoid mold, the humidity fan will only run with high humidity.

Oh - thanks for the reply - the timed fans are a lot cheaper so that kind of suits me - I thought the idea was that I only needed the fan on when it got humid so a humitity sensor seemed like the sensible way to go?

Why do I need the extractor fan on if I've just popped in to clean my teeth or something?

Put the timed fan on a separate pull switch, and then you can decide if you need it on or not.....after a shower it should run for 15 mins or thereabouts after being switched off. John

Mold spores can enter the room anytime so the more ventilation you have the better, my shower room has twin fans which are triggered by a movement sensor [pir] so run if you so much as look in the room, no mold at all despite there being no window in there.
