Hi,
I am trying to wire in a Manrose shower fan timer model) so it comes on when I switch on bathroom light. I think I have wired as per instuctions although electrics is not my strong point, however the result is that the fan only comes on when I switch the light off, what am I doing wrong???!!!

you have connected it wrong

it should be connected to the same wires the go to the lamp (excluding the earth which goes to the earth)

Breezer,
Sorry but I am being really thick about this, I told you electrics was not my strong point!. I have broken into the lighting circuit and fitted double pole fused spur. How do I now wire up between the fused spur, fan and pull cord? Many thanks for your help>

as its a timed fan, you should connect it direct to the light supply

the timed wire should go to the lamp live

normally it would be as follows

3 reds in middle of rose are always live (add fan live here)

2 blacks to one side of rose are neutral (add fan neutral here)

1 single black (should have red tape) is switched live connect timer wire to fan here

i am thinking its this last wire you have in wrong place
