Looking at fitting an extractor in bathroom as suffering from steam escaping via bathroom door and condensing on internal gable wall near landing window - now affecting the decoration!

Room is about 9ft square with a window that is usually left open. Bathroom was gutted and fitted out about 3 years back and tiled floor to ceiling but no extractor - big mistake.

My questions are:

where should extractor be positioned, near to shower or to side of window or elsewhere

can electrics be connected to one of 6 spotlights in suspended ceiling

any recommendations for extractor?

Normally positioned as far from the source of entering air as possible.

One common method is to have a gap under the door, so air enters there. The extractor would be positioned as far from the door as possible.
That only works if the window is closed - if it's likely to be open most of the time, make the door as close fitting as possible and locate the extractor away from the window.

Extractors can be connected to the lighting, often so that it is activated by turning the light on.

Any extractor should be far more powerful than the minimum requirements (which are next to useless), and you must have somewhere for the air to enter the room, otherwise it will do nothing.

If you have access above the bathroom ceiling, fit a decent in-line fan, it will be much quieter and perform better than a basic 4" wall/ceiling fan.

Thanks for the advice, would you recommend Vent-axia, Xpelair, Manrose or other? Have been looking at Vent-axia from Screwfix.
