I managed to break the bathroom fan pull cord switch and need to replace it. The old switch had L1, L2 & neutral wires for both in and out (6 wires total).

The new one is just 1 live and 1 neutral in and out, I've tried putting both live wires in the same live input on the box.

Fan turns on when light is on, and operates on the pull switch as expected (hurray). However when the bathroom light is off and you turn the switch one the bathroom light flickers and the fan tries to turn on for a second before they both go back to being off as expected.

Any guidance on what's going wrong here? Maybe I need to buy a specific part?

Thanks!
