we're about to lay slate tiels in our bathroom. The existing floorboards have been lifted by the previous owner and replaced with chipboard (about 20mm thick) this is screwed down in 6inch centres and seems pretty sturdy. The chipboard is laid in sections, some small, some large, does this matter? we were concerned about the number if bits of chipboard butting up against each other, ie the number of joints. Would be be as well laying another layer of marine ply on top of the chipboard, just to err on the side of caution?
Thanks.
