Hi we've just had our ensuite ripped out and replaced. The only things that are left are to paint it, put a vinyl floor down and change the light fitting.

Currently there is a single pendant light with a 60W bulb and glass light shade that I can only describe as being a tribute to the 80s.

The light isn't above anything in the bathroom. I was planning on replacing it with a 3 way spotlight such as http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...ay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=452963 with GU10 bulbs.

Is this an OK thing to do and will the wiring be a simple like for like swap? Or will it be above the skills of an average DIYer such as myself?

Thanks

You will need to check with homebase to establish whether your proposed light is suitable for the bathroom area. Also consider LED lights rather than the 50w GU10 advertised - remember you will be nearly tripling your electricity usage for the bathroom otherwise.
If you currently have a ceiling rose then you will need to look at wiki here:

as mentioned LED lighting would be a good idea, look for an IP rating of IP65
