Hiya,

My bathroom lights are LED GU10’s, worked fine for ages but one by one stopped working and now the odd one is slightly lit intermittently, is this how LEDs die or do I need special ones for the bathroom please? I know the circuit is fine as the fan works.

We are using the light on the mirror just in case anyone thinks I poo in the dark

Would like to replace the whole light units as they are metal and have rusted a little on closer inspection, one light is over the shower too. Any good steam proof units to consider please?

I have around 15 GU10's around the house, been here around 5 years, around 4 have been replaced, one a colour changing smart failed completely, the other 3 developed a shimmer.

Of the other LED lamps, replaced a bank of 8 because daughter complained of a headache, but used them else where, so yes in general the GU10's do seem to have a shorter life, but we are cramming a lot into a small package.

But there are only two contacts at the back of the bulb, and can't really see how one would be better to another.

There has been a debate as to if having a SPD extends the life of LED's, but could just as easy be just luck.
