Bathroom mirror light - power cable through hole in wall?

Just had a new bathroom installation.

The electrician removed the old shaver light/socket and ran a cable behind the wall (plasterboard) to about 2 feet+ above the basin, where it comes through a small hole in the wall (in readiness for us to put a bathroom mirror/light in).

I'm ok about connecting the wiring to the connection box on the back of the mirror, but where the cable comes through the hole in the wall - is this ok, or is there a correct procedure to deal with it eg some sort of plate or fixing?

Your advice would be much appreciated - I have tried searching on the net, but unable to find anything.

There's no standard practice for bringing wiring into light fittings. You should just follow the manufacturer's instructions, make sure you don't drill through the wiring, and make sure that the fitting is located such as to cover up the hole in the wall for aesthetics!
