Hi, trying to replace a pull switch in bathroom of our static caravan, as soon as i have connected one wire it blows the fuse switch, either the positive or the neutral, makes no difference,it still trips, I got the new one from Wilkinsons Are pull switches all the same? or is there something I need to know? the old one worked fine until it started malfunctioning and fell apart.
Hope someone can help

What wires do you have at the switch?

How many terminals did the old switch have?

When you say "one wire connected" do you mean one cable with two wires.

A single wire connected to a switch, no matter how incorrectly cannot complete a circuit, ( unless the wire is connected to an earth terminal which is earthed by some other connections )

What colour are the core of the cables at the switch?
are any mark up or sleeved?
You said positive and neutral blow the fuse, does the switch have a terminal for the neutral to be switched? as this is not common on a bathroom pull-cord for lighting.
