Hi folks,
We had a Plumber/Builder putting wall cladding in our bathroom wall on top of old tiles. Open closer inspection of the work, I noticed there is some gaps near the bath taps. The reason for cladding and other work in the bath, was that there was a leak from the bath when people were using the shower, going downstairs.

I just wanted to make it waterproof. Is it better to put a tape on top of the silicone? He’s coming back but told me he’d just silicone the gap around the bath taps, is that enough?
As you can see the silicon that he put isn’t that nice to look at.

So the tradesmen is fitting panels but not running silicone around and leaving it all tidy and sealed?
Bizzare.
Did you agree to the panels to be fitted but no silicone?
Id clean that. Remove all that old silicone as a mess, then clean with meths so silicone sticks well.
Then apply silicone around nice and tidy and smooth so water runs off.

thanks for the reply. The 'builder' wants to silicone the tiny crack that has appeared in the cladding near the taps. I told him the shower water can sip through the crack. He said because of the old tiles, the cladding didn't fit properly. What you guys think.
