Bathroom Sink Plug hole

Looking down the plug hole in the bathroom I can see lots of sludge that I want to clean. I have tried Mr Muscle sink hole unblocker which has removed some of it, but there's still plent left.

Is it feasible to take the pipe/drain out to clean with a bit of elbow grease?? If so not to sure how to get the drain/pipe out??
Any ideas please would be appreciated.
