GRC - ...and as long as you take the cistern off as well as cutting the water ..... but seriously; are you planning on putting the WC pan directly on top of the tiles, or are you going to introduce something to cushion it? There's a school of thought that putting the WC directly on top of tiles will lead to either the pan or the tiles cracking, and at the very least, grinding against one another every time someone sits down. Chance of cracking depends on how vigorously you and yours 'land' on the throne..........
reminds me of some graffiti I saw in a portaloo door on a site I was working on once...
'We apologise but due to severe subsidance anything weighing more than two pounds must be lowered by hand!
It does not take rocket science to cut a tile around a toilet. Just make sure you centre the pan to your cuts, ie 4 tiles . The rest is easy with a bit of cardboard, shape maker etc...................
Thanks for all the advice. Could cut the tiles but to centre the 4 tiles with the WC pan would spoil the layout of the floor. Plan to use putty to bed the pan on the tiles. Is this OK. Used to work in the'old days' when settling the pan on wooden floorboards.
Best result would be take take pan out.
Tile floor.
Resite pan and check soil pipe will connect - if there is no movement ( ) in the soil pipe, you can get offset connectors (see mcalpines catalogue on the web).
Redrill the cistern securing screws
Before placing pan, use a generous slurp of clear silicon on the bottom of the pan before.
If you have screw holes, you won't need to use them, so just silicone some dummy screws in to fill the holes.
Adjust cold water supply to accommodate cistern being higher.
